With over 40 successful years in the "trucking business", I retired in 2002 only to find that retirement didn’t pay very well. But it didn’t matter I was "too old" to continue at the pace I had for my career, so one way or the other I was out of a job. Like everyone else who finds this problem, I began searching for a "part time" job to supplement my retirement. Here are the facts, a part time; minimum wage job does not provide you with enough money to do the things you want to do in retirement. It just didn’t make sense to retire from a $25.00 per/hour full time job to take a $5.35 per/hour part time job. So I went looking for business that would ‘work for me". I was introduced to the Legacy Product Processing/Distribution Center concept via a local Business Broker whom I contacted. With great interest from the first contact, I conducted my due diligence and opted to become the owner for the 918 Area Code. I must admit I had some reservations about the promises of help that I would receive from The Forget Me Not Foundation, but I shouldn’t have. These people have "bent over backwards" in their assistance. I consider my Center to be very successful and have great pride in our contribution to the Foundations focus of the prevention and abuse to elders. The bad news is, I was looking for a part time job which has turned into a full time job. However, I am so lucky to have family members who need and appreciate the jobs I have given them. The good news is, it has proven to be a dependable source of income equal to or greater than the driving job, I retired from. |
